I’m Alive

I’m alive and fine.  Well, almost.  I stepped on a carpet staple two weeks ago and that resulted in one Urgent Care visit (five days later), and so far three doctors’ appointments with one scheduled next week. Add in two changes of antibiotics including one that is hopefully killing the “possibly worried about (<— says the doctor) MRSA.”  I’m now on an oral and topical antibiotic. And soaking my foot each night in Epsom Salts.  Yeah, it’s not healing so well.

I’m so busy that I haven’t been able to blog. With the staple incident, I haven’t been very mobile and have been pretty out of it. Also, I’m getting ready to fly out tomorrow to see my husband for the first time in three months! Yay!

First drill is this weekend, too.  Uh, yeah, marching and running will not be in my repitoire for the weekend.  I even have a doc’s note for it :)

Be back later!

Friday Funny #7: Navy Recruiter Prank Call

Laughter is a tranquilizer with no side effects.
~Arnold Glasow

It’s time for the next “Friday Funny.” As a Navy wife with a husband who isn’t home much (and not at all right now) sometimes things can get a bit melancholy.

Please join me with the “Friday Funny” meme. It can be anything from a comment that made you laugh or a funny story or even a funny photo/video you have seen.  Leave a comment if you post one and I’ll visit your blog to see!

This week’s Friday Funny is another Navy video. It’s a prank call from Roy D. Mercer, a very funny comedian.

You can’t deny laughter; when it comes, it plops down in your favorite chair and stays as long as it wants.

This week’s Friday Funny is another Navy video. I’ve seen this in an e-mail joke (not as Navy, but as another ship) but it was funny to see it put to video.  And before anyone gets on me for making fun of the Navy, I definitely am not… this is a joke.  Actually, if you take just the words, it really is a joke and I’ve heard it done this way.

Wordless Wednesday #9: My Commissioning Ceremony

I prefer liberty with danger to peace with slavery.
~Author Unknown

It’s Wordless Wednesday again!  Leave a message and I’ll try to return the favor.

I will continue the last two weeks of my wedding photos next week.

I’m a Winner and Promises

People understand contests.  You take a bunch of kids throwing rocks at random and people look askance, but if you go and hold a rock-throwing contest – people understand that.
~Don Murray

Oh my gosh… I just won something.  And not just something, I won this

The quilt I just won from "Trying Our Best." Gorgeous!

The quilt I just won from "Trying Our Best." Gorgeous!

absolutely gorgeous hand-made quilted blue star in the contest I mentioned in my last post.  Holy Moley… I never win anything.  And to win something this amazing and something that will mean so much to Huzzy and I… I just have no words to say.

So a big thank you to the Mrs. at Trying Our Best for offering this gorgeous quilt that will be hung in a place of honor (as soon as we have a home to hang it in, of course… hopefully soon!). And a huge thank you to the Mrs.’s mom, who made the quilt. Amazing.

As for the promises… I promise you will get photos tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday.  I haven’t decided if I’m going to do another set of wedding photos or if I’m going to do my commissioning ceremony photos.  Any preference?  Of course, the one that isn’t posted will be posted next week.

A Giveaway and I’m Tired!

God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say “thank you?”
~William A. Ward

One of my bloggy buddies (Under the Sea) made me aware of a really cool giveaway for military spouses.  It’s a quilted Service Star.  For those who might not know about them, the Department of Defense allowed them to be displayed (back in the WWI era) in homes of people who had immediate family members who were serving in times of war.

Anyway, this giveaway is courtesy of a new blog I recently started following called Trying Our Best.  You can find out about the giveaway here.  Check it out. It’s for spouses and parents of active duty only.

In other news, I’m so freakin’ tired. I’m glad I’ve been working each weekend to make the extra money we need, but I’m on day number 16 right now of at least a 21 day stretch (the schedule isn’t out any farther so I don’t know when the stretch will end).  At least I know I get to see Huzzy in 17 days!  Woo!

So please forgive me if I don’t most much right now. I’m just tired.  I will soon be updating you on everything that’s happened including more sick dogs (though I think we might have found a cause), my commissioning ceremony photos and the $800 we have to part with to get the stupid floor done so we can get the house up for sale.  I still hope to be living with Huzzy before he deploys this fall.  All these updates and more coming soon!
