I love learning more about my fellow MilSpouse bloggers. So I created a weekly meme. Each week, I’ll post a list of questions on Thursday (so you can have your blog ready on Friday). Come back here on Friday (like today!) and enter your blog post into Mr. Linky below so others know who else participated and we can all visit other blogs. Please leave a comment too! And please feel free to use the button above!

1. What is your spouse’s best feature?
I love his strong shoulders/chest. I feel so cherished, loved and safe when he’s wrapped his arms around me and pulled me to him.

2. Mild, Medium or Hot sauce?
Mild. By far. I’m such a baby when it comes to spicy things. Huzzy loves hot stuff, though.

3. What is the worst uniform you had to wear for a job?
I’ve worked at WalMart. That’s pretty bad. But worse than that, I worked at a zoo as an animal demonstrator and event planner. Part of my job (I worked in a team of six) was to do birthday parties at the zoo. One of us had to be the zoo’s mascot… a huge bunny that looked liked the Easter bunny.

Unlike Disney costumes, it had no A/C. In 90+ degrees with 80%+ humidity. And was rarely washed. So not only did you stink in it, but you had to smell others’ stink. It was miserable.

4. You have invisible powers… where is the first place you would go?
I would probably jump on some planes and go see my family. Then maybe a luxiourious tropical vacation. We could sleep on the beach (hopefully Huzzy would be invisible with me) and not worry about being robbed or anything. It would be fantastic!

5. What’s left on your “to do” list for this summer?
Well, I’m writing this post about two weeks ahead of times, so who knows what I’ve done in that time frame. But I really want to go whale watching and I would love to hike the valleys of Mt. Rainier.

I love learning more about my fellow MilSpouse bloggers! MilSpouse Friday Fill-in is taking off even better than I could have ever hoped. I learned so much about my fellow bloggers and can’t wait to learn more… and hopefully even MORE will join in as we go.

Here’s the skinny for newcomers about MilSpouse Friday Fill-ins (and when I say MilSpouse, I mean significant others, too!):

(Please forgive me if I can’t get to visit everyone’s blogs the next few weeks. I get only a few days with Huzzy–first since early spring!–before I head off to two months of school for the Navy on the opposite side of the country… I’m gonna be a bit busy!)

1. Besides the horizontal mambo, what do you miss most when your spouse is deployed?
Oh gosh, I can never stick to one on my own questions! I miss laying my head on his shoulder at night. I miss him grabbing my hand every time we get in a vehicle and holding it no matter if he is driving or if I am. And I miss back rubs. Oh my Lord does that man give fantastic back rubs.

2. What do you miss least?
The absolute thing I DO NOT MISS is him snotting in the shower. It’s disgusting. I hate it. Don’t miss it. Drives me up the wall.

3. You only get three crayons to finish your picture… which three do you choose and why?
I would use yellow, blue (and not because they are Navy colors) and pink. Yellow is sunshine and everything light to me. Blue is a color that can represent everything from sadness to a gorgeous summer sky… from the calm ocean waters to raging winter storms. And pink, well, I love pink. It’s girly and cheery and reminds me of flowers and everything good.

4. If you could have your own fragrance, what would it be called?
I would call it Summer Lovin’. It would be a mixture of orange blossoms, amber, orchid and some more citrus like honeydew.

5. If the shoes make the man (or woman), what do your shoes say about you right now?
I’m not wearing shoes right now. So does that mean I’m nothing? LOL… well, my socks are white and clean, so I guess that means I’m clean and practical? I’m very comfy in my home (when my dumb @ss landlords aren’t doing their “monthly” inspections). But generally my shoes are practical and comfy… which is the type of person I am. I do love my girly shoes though… so practical, comfy and girly would describe me!

It is amazing how much you can accomplish when it doesn’t matter who gets the credit.

Mmm… Monday #11: Cream Puff in a Pan

I want to have a good body, but not as much as I want dessert.
~Jason Love

It’s been a while since I’ve posted one of these (thank God for auto-posting so I don’t have to actually do it on the day it posts!

This is slightly browner than what I'd like but still was awesome.

This recipe was introduced to my family from one of my childhood friend’s moms. I can’t believe I totally forgot about it until my mom mentioned she was making it. So I’ve made it twice now in the last month… once as a dessert to go with a meal I made a friend’s family after she had surgery and then again for our FRG’s 4th of July BBQ.

It’s so yummy and kid-friendly… who wouldn’t love chocolate syrup drizzled on top of whipped cream! Come to think of it, it’s PMS-friendly too!

Cream Puff in a Pan

Spread on the cream cheese, pudding and milk mixture

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1 cup flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 2 (4oz) packages of instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 12 oz of whipped topping
  • Chocolate syrup as a drizzle

  1. Preheat oven to 350.

    Mmm... hungry already!

  2. Bring water and margarine to a boil in a saucepan. Take off heat and immediately stir in flour.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time. Spread onto a greased 10 x 15 baking sheet.
  4. Bake  until very lightly browned (about 25 minutes). Let cool.
  5. Beat softened cream cheese in mixing bowl until smooth, add pudding and milk. Mix until blended, spread over cooled crust.
  6. Top with whipped topping, drizzle chocolate syrup over top. Ready to serve or refrigerate until ready. I put toothpicks in top to keep foil off the topping.

Notes: My mom has tried fat free topping and it is a little runny.  I love “French Vanilla” pudding vs the regular vanilla.
