MilSpouse Friday Fill-In #9: Questions for Tomorrow
How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.

I love learning more about my fellow MilSpouse bloggers! MilSpouse Friday Fill-in is taking off even better than I could have ever hoped. I learned so much about my fellow bloggers and can’t wait to learn more… and hopefully even MORE will join in as we go.
Here’s the skinny for newcomers about MilSpouse Friday Fill-ins (and when I say MilSpouse, I mean significant others, too!):
Each week, I’ll post a list of questions on Thursday (so you can have your blog ready on Friday). Come back here on Friday and enter your blog post into Mr. Linky so others know who else participated and we can all visit other blogs. And please feel free to use the button above!
I was going to feature one question suggested by MFF participants each week, but since you all came up with such great questions last week, I’m going to have to do more than one a week! This week’s questions are:
- If you could be a fugitive from the law for whatever reason, what would your crime be? (from It’s a Hooah Life)
- How long do you think you will be a military family? (from Julie the Army Wife)
- What’s your favorite recipe? (from Keep Calm and Soldier On)
- What would you want your last five words to be when you leave this life? (from My Goal is Simple)
- Where do you hope to retire? (from Pennies from Heaven)
I can’t wait to see what you all come up with tomorrow!

When we ask advice we are usually looking for an accomplice.

I love learning more about my fellow MilSpouse bloggers. So I created a weekly meme. Each week, I’ll post a list of questions on Thursday (so you can have your blog ready on Friday). Come back here on Friday (like today!) and enter your blog post into Mr. Linky below so others know who else participated and we can all visit other blogs. Please leave a comment too! And please feel free to use the button above!
(Please forgive me if I can’t get to visit everyone’s blogs the next few weeks. I am having a hard time accessing my own blog from the Army Internet!)
1. What is ONE thing you’d like civilians to understand about being a military family?
I would like civilians to understand that we do not get “free” housing and healthcare… it’s all part of the package and if we didn’t get those, we’d get bigger paychecks! ‘Cause military paychecks aren’t much compared to the sacrifice. And along those lines… we pay taxes, too, so using the “my taxes pay for you!” line doesn’t work with me.
And one parting note… your husband taking a week or two business trip where he gets to sleep in a hotel with a view, have maid service and have daily access to a phone/Internet DOES NOT mean you understand how hard deployments are. But thanks for trying to understand.
2. What is your favorite mistake?
That would have to be allowing a strange man I’d met on the Internet come to my house–where I lived alone–in the middle of the night while I was (legally) high on painkillers. Luckily he turned out to be a pretty great guy. Ya know, since I married him and all!
3. What indulgence could you give up for a year?
Soda. I love it and it’d be hard to break, but as long as I had iced tea, I’d be fine. And maybe flavored water every now and then.
4. If you could be a winged animal, what would you be?
I would be a Swallow because I think it’d be tons of fun to dive-bomb unsuspecting people and animals. And people would make a big deal of me arriving at San Juan Capistrano. As a Swallow, I’d also not be the showy bird that everyone wanted to hunt down and then I could (hopefully) hide from hawks. And children with sticks. But then I’d just dive-bomb them, too.
5. What is one question you’d like to see asked in a future MFF?
I’ve come up with a lot of these, so this is your turn! I plan to use some of them in upcoming weeks (though I still have like a year of questions in a folder!
Please don’t forget to add your blog link to Mr. Linky below by clicking on it. But also if you are not participating in MilSpouse Friday Fill-In this week, please do not put your link on there… I will remove it. It is unfair to others who do participate.

Internet Problems
Hey folks… I’m here at Fort Meade for my two months of training. Unfortunately, the good ol’ Army can’t spring for Internet that can support WordPress. (I’m doing this from my phone) In fact, due to NSA being on base, I don’t get good phone reception, either!
I hope to have a real post up as soon as I can get to a place with better Internet.

(Please forgive me if I can’t get to visit everyone’s blogs the next few weeks. I am just beginning a two month Navy school on the other side of the country… I’m gonna be a bit busy!)
1. What is something you wished you’d learned to do earlier in life?
Um, I wish I’d learned to drive a stick earlier. I feel like SUCH an idiot when I have a hard time starting from a dead stop and going up the hills (there are A LOT here). The other day, I had to put the parking break on and the hazards on and make Huzzy switch with me because an @rsehole rode up on my bumper–literally within inches–and we were at a stoplight going up a steep hill. I am still at the rolling back a foot or so while going… hey, at least I’m not stalling out anymore! (much!)
2. What is your biggest pet peeve with the military?
I hate not being able to rely on timeframes/dates they give us. That annoys me to no end.
3. What tourist attraction near you have you never seen?
I have not gone whale watching, nor have I been to Mt. Rainier.
4. What are you avoiding doing right now?
I am avoiding packing for my two month trip to a Navy school in Maryland (this post is being written a few weeks early).
5. Wine, beer or liquor?
LIQUOR! I only like the first ice-cold sip of beer and I’ve never really gotten into wine much. But make me a mixed drink and… yummy!
