MilSpouse Friday Fill-In #60

You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go…
~Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Places You’ll Go!

MilSpouse Friday Fill-In(please feel free to use this!)

I love learning more about my fellow MilSpouse bloggers. So I created a weekly meme. Each week, I’ll post a list of questions on Thursday (so you can have your blog ready on Friday). Come back here on Friday (like today!) and enter your blog post into Mr. Linky below so others know who else participated and we can all visit other blogs. Please leave a comment too! And please feel free to use the button above!

1. I always feel like I’m  24 years old, but in reality, I’m 29 .

2. I wish my family understood better when I tell them that sometimes it’s really hard to be the wife of a member in the military. I get the “you chose this life” comment a lot and sometimes, I just want to be told, “yeah, it sucks sometimes” and have them leave it at that

3. If you saw me when I dress up and go out, you’d think I was a total girly-girl, but if you saw me when I go horseback riding or back to the family farm, you’d think I was a tomboy through-and-through.

4. I feel like I’m in a totally different universe when go from being on base to somewhere where there isn’t a military base around for hundreds of miles. So different, yet in the same world.

5. In honor of this being MFF #60… 60 months ago  (exactly 5 years ago, so September 30, 2006) I lived in Kalamazoo, Michigan  and my life was totally different because I hadn’t met Huzzy nor even CONSIDERED joining the military myself.

MilSpouse Friday Fill-In #60: Questions For Tomorrow

Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.

I love learning more about my fellow MilSpouse bloggers! MilSpouse Friday Fill-in took off even better than I could have ever hoped. I learned so much about my fellow bloggers and can’t wait to learn more… and hopefully even MORE will join in as we continue.

Here’s the skinny for newcomers about MilSpouse Friday Fill-ins (and when I say MilSpouse, I mean significant others, too!):

It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

The manner of giving is worth more than the gift.
~Pierre Corneille, Le Menteur

So, it’s getting to be that time of year again. Yes, Christmas is just 89 days away and Hanukkah is only 84 days away (While I don’t celebrate it, I love when Hanukkah falls during Christmas because I love the spirit of both seasons!). I have decided to go ahead and do the MilSpouse Secret Santa again because despite the small amount of snarking last year, I think the majority of people enjoyed it.

But before we sign up, I’d like to know if anyone out there would like to offer a discount to those who participate. Last year, we had several great business, all run by MilSpouses, offer fantastic discounts to Secret Santa participants.

So, if you have a business, please email me at wifeofasailor (at) gmail (dot) com with the following:

  1. Your business name
  2. Your name
  3. What discount/deal you are offering.
  4. How to get the deal (is there a code, etc)
  5. A small blurb about your business/what you are offering
  6. Your business website (if you have one)
Also, last year we had a few MilGirlfriends and MilFiancees sign up. I’m totally fine with this, but I would like your opinion because I did have some people think that MilSpouses should be paired with MilSpouses, MilGirlfriends with MilGirlfriends, MilFiancees with MilFiancees etc since they are approximately in the same point in their relationships and that would possibly help with the gift giving and meet people in the same situation.
So I need your opinion on a few things….

1. My favorite thing that happened this week was my younger brother arriving to check out the area and see if he wants to move here. I haven’t seen him in more than a year and a half and he’s never been west of Colorado!

2. Find a penny, pick it up and all day long you’ll wonder where the heck that penny has been and then wonder if it was REALLY worth picking up.

3. Autumn is officially here and my favorite part of the season is the colors on the trees. There aren’t as many here as in Michigan, but they are still gorgeous!

4. One of the things I’d like to do before winter arrives is to get some outdoor painting done and some insulation in the attic. Doubt it’ll happen since Huzzy will be gone most of the fall/winter and into spring.

5. I (((would/would not/might))) be willing to participate in MilSpouse Secret Santa. (sorry folks, just trying to get an idea here on how many would participate, so please circle/underline/bold one)
