Third Anniversary

A part of you has grown in me.  And so you see, it’s you and me together forever and never apart, maybe in distance, but never in heart.
~Author Unknown

Today is our third anniversary. I’ve been fine this whole deployment and didn’t expect this day to really bother me. But it really is. Hope I pull out of this funk because I really don’t want to be in it for work.

Anyway, if you haven’t read it before, go see How We Met. It’s pretty funny. And also something to scare you if you have daughters, because in my case, drugs are good.   Oh, and of course, there are wedding photos ;)

Looking for Guest Bloggers

Childhood is a short season.
~Helen Hayes

Thanks for the quick feedback! I have more than enough guest bloggers now, so I’m not looking for any others.

I’m looking for five guest bloggers for “Month of the Military Child,” which happens in April. I would like to post one each Monday in April (and there are FIVE this year!).

What I’m looking for is someone who is a parent of a military child and wants to talk about the difficulties, the joys, the differences in civilian vs military children, etc.  Heck, if you are a pregnant with a military child and would like to post on this, that’s great!

I can only take five people. So if you are interested, send me your pitch to wifeofasailor (at) gmail (dot) com.  Let me know what you would blog about and a little about yourself and your child(ren).

What I am NOT looking for are companies who just want to blog about the great things they have to offer.

Thanks in advance!

Two Years

Time is the coin of your life.  It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent.  Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you.
~Carl Sandburg

Earlier this month, I celebrated two years here in the Pacific Northwest. It’s been a tumultuous two years full of ups and downs.

For the majority of the two years (let’s be honest, all but 15 weeks because I got a job but was laid off just 15 weeks later), I’ve been unemployed. I mean, I’ve always had the Navy Reserves and have done stints of active duty there (and am just finishing up three months of active duty), but for the most part, I’ve been unemployed.

But two weeks from today, I’m starting a new job. I’m going to be working as a Navy civilian on the local base. It’s a dream job. It’s also a two-year “term” job… which means it’s only around for two years.  But who knows what will happen. In that time, it could be extended or it might stay two years.

Two years.

Wow. A lot can sure happen in two years. I wonder what I’ll be doing/where I’ll be in two years.

What do you think will be happening in your life?

MilSpouse (First) Friday Fill-In #69

Whether  you think you can, or cannot… you are right.

(please feel free to use this!)

I love learning more about my fellow MilSpouse bloggers. So I created a weekly meme, which has now morphed into a monthly meme. This happens the first Friday of every month. To do this, I’ll post a list of questions the day before (on Thursday so you can have your blog ready on Friday). Come back here on Friday (like today!) and enter your blog post into Mr. Linky below so others know who else participated and we can all visit other blogs. Please leave a comment too! And please feel free to use the button above!

1. What is your favorite/most unique anniversary/birthday gift from your spouse? suggested by Bel at Being a Better Me
I think for our first anniversary: he bought me a pearl necklace that matched the pearl earrings that he had given me for Christmas (just weeks earlier since I didn’t see him until March that year!). He had purchased the necklace and earrings in Guam when he was there with his boat.

2. What’s your first thought when you see it’s snowing (or what would you say if you don’t live somewhere with snow? suggested by Poekitten from Many Waters
If it’s just coming down and not going to stick or make things a pain, I’m at the point where I can think it is pretty again. But if it’s going to stick and make roads and drivers nuts around here, I groan. I had way more than enough snow living in Michigan for nearly 28 years.

3. What’s one thing in the past month you would have changed?  suggested by Erika from Chambanachik
Hmmm… I don’t think I’d change anything. Nothing really horrible happened in February. Of course, I’d love to have changed the WEATHER and given us some more sunshine!

4. What was your favorite thing that happened in February?
Oh gosh… I think it is just spending some good time hanging out with one of my best friends. Both our husbands are gone now and she’s struggling at times with her two young children.

5. What are you looking forward to in March?
Hopefully being offered a job! If not, NOT having a job is what will terrify me! That and hopefully warmer weather.  LOL

Please don’t forget to add your blog link to Mr. Linky below by clicking on it. But also if you are not participating in MilSpouse Friday Fill-In this week, please do not put your link on there… I will remove it. It is unfair to others who do participate.

MilSpouse (first) Friday Fill-In #69: Questions for Tomorrow

Indoors or out, no one relaxes in March, that month of wind and taxes, the wind will presently disappear, the taxes last us all the year.
