Whoa. I almost missed the date. It’s nearly 9 p.m. and I just realized it is June 5th.
Three years ago today, I raised my hand, swore to defend the Constitution of the United States of America and officially became an officer in the Navy Reserve.
Wow. What a ride these last three years have been. I’ve learned SO much since then. And I know I have a lot more to learn. I’m looking forward to what else may come my way.

The Navy owns me. (Photo from my commissioning ceremony, which happened two weeks after my actual commissioning date of 5JUN2009)

Congratulations on your commisioniversary! Just one more year ’til you’re a big bad LT, right? Time to start planning the wetting down.
The real purpose of my comment, though, is to say thank you for your service. You did not have to raise your right hand, but you did so with a willing heart and a mind keen to share your talents whenever and wherever the Navy needs them. That’s something special, and I am grateful for you and your fellow servicemembers.
P.S. I am totally embarrassed that I misspelled my made-up word. Let’s make that “commissioniversary” instead.
