Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.

MilSpouse Friday Fill-In(please feel free to use this!)

I love learning more about my fellow MilSpouse bloggers. So I created a weekly meme. Each week, I’ll post a list of questions on Thursday (so you can have your blog ready on Friday). Come back here on Friday (like today!) and enter your blog post into Mr. Linky below so others know who else participated and we can all visit other blogs. Please leave a comment too! And please feel free to use the button above!

Next week, there’ll be more questions again by other MilSpouses. This week, I’m too busy graduating from the Defense Information School to do that, so I’m making some quick questions. This week’s questions are:

1. What is the longest road trip you’ve ever taken?
That would have to be the PCS trip we took in February from Michigan to Western Washington. Of course, this was made longer since we had to go via St. Louis, Amarillo, Las Vegas, Boise and then over thanks to the snow and blizzard warnings that were all around us.

2. Do you collect anything? Tell us a bit about it.
I collect snow globes. Mostly ones from different states and places that I visit. My parents gave me a curio cabinet for my high school graduation present and it’s totally filled now!

3. What is your favorite part about being an adult?)
Hmm… I guess my favorite part is choosing to do what I want. But that also comes with being responsible for my choices, which isn’t always fun!

4. What song brings a tear to your eye?
I danced to “I Loved Her First” during my Father-Daughter dance at my wedding. My dad had died four years previously so I danced to that with the other men in my life… my brother, uncle and cousins. Also, most songs that have to do with losing someone and/or the military tend to get me. The ones that come to mind are “Arlington” and “American Soldier” both by Trace Adkins, “Eighth of November” by Big and Rich and “If You’re Reading This” by Tim McGraw.

5. Describe your first plane ride (how old you were, where you were heading, etc).
I was three or four years old and we flew to visit my grandparents in Florida. I don’t remember much about it, other than we missed our connecting flight and I remember my mom running holding my baby brother and holding my hand and trying to get me to run faster. I also remember my mom getting me to watch the planes out the window of the airport (no doubt to keep me from getting bored).

(Please forgive me if I can’t get to visit everyone’s blogs the next few weeks. I am just beginning a two month Navy school on the other side of the country… I’m gonna be a bit busy!)

1. What is something you wished you’d learned to do earlier in life?
Um, I wish I’d learned to drive a stick earlier. I feel like SUCH an idiot when I have a hard time starting from a dead stop and going up the hills (there are A LOT here). The other day, I had to put the parking break on and the hazards on and make Huzzy switch with me because an @rsehole rode up on my bumper–literally within inches–and we were at a stoplight going up a steep hill. I am still at the rolling back a foot or so while going… hey, at least I’m not stalling out anymore! (much!)

2. What is your biggest pet peeve with the military?
I hate not being able to rely on timeframes/dates they give us. That annoys me to no end.

3. What tourist attraction near you have you never seen?
I have not gone whale watching, nor have I been to Mt. Rainier.

4. What are you avoiding doing right now?
I am avoiding packing for my two month trip to a Navy school in Maryland (this post is being written a few weeks early).

5. Wine, beer or liquor?
LIQUOR! I only like the first ice-cold sip of beer and I’ve never really gotten into wine much. But make me a mixed drink and… yummy!
