Wordless Wednesday #15: My First Strawberry From Our Plants

Vegetables are the food of the earth; fruit seems more the food of the heavens.

Ripe for the picking!

And a good size too!

I'm only eating one. The rest are going to be frozen until Huzzy comes home. He wants me to make strawberry jam!

  1. Oh yum. I wish my strawberries would hurry up and grow! I’m impressed that you make your own jam! I want to try, but I wouldn’t know where to start. Is it hard?

  2. Sespi, It’s not hard at all… I have a bread machine that also does “baking” and jams. All it is is strawberries, sugar, liquid fruit pectin and lemon juice. Sooo fantastic with no preservatives!

  3. We have strawberry plants outside. I have never grown them before. Do they need to be kept up off the ground with something like a tomato cage?

  4. No. Strawberry plants are generally on the grown themselves. But they WILL spread… they have feelers that reach out and start more plants!
