MilSpouse Friday Fill-In #12

In the opinion of the world, marriage ends all, as it does in a comedy.  The truth is precisely the opposite:  it begins all.

MilSpouse Friday Fill-In(please feel free to use this!)

I love learning more about my fellow MilSpouse bloggers. So I created a weekly meme. Each week, I’ll post a list of questions on Thursday (so you can have your blog ready on Friday). Come back here on Friday (like today!) and enter your blog post into Mr. Linky below so others know who else participated and we can all visit other blogs. Please leave a comment too! And please feel free to use the button above!

(Please forgive me if I can’t get to visit everyone’s blogs the next few weeks. I am having a hard time accessing my own blog from the Army Internet!)

I was going to feature one question suggested by MFF participants each week, but since you all came up with such great questionthe other week, I’m going to have to do more than one a week! This week’s questions are:

1. Do you set goals for yourself during deployment?  What are some of them? (from Military Mommy)

I do. Since I just announced yet another deployment, I’ve decided that for this one, I want to lose 25 pounds and be able to run a 5K by the time it’s finished. Think I can do that by the end of this year/beginning of next?
2. What would you say to someone dating a military guy or gal? (from Mothering Off the Cuff)
I would say, “This is tough. It’s not any part of the glamor you see portrayed in the movies and on TV. Being apart sucks. Sucks horribly. You have to really have a strong relationship to get through this. It’s not easy and the stats show it doesn’t always end well. But don’t be afraid to lean on others who understand your situation (other MilSpouses). That being said… I think the relationships that DO survived are some of the most solid, wonderful you’ll see anywhere in this world. Know what’s in your heart and go for it.”
3. If you have children, how do you prepare them to move to a new place? (from The Random Ramblings of A Household 6)
Um, I don’t have any children yet, so I’ll defer to the experts. Um, well, at least I don’t THINK I have any children 😉
4. Name one hobby that gets you through alone time. (from My Sailor’s Mistress)
Twitter. And our dogs. That’s two, but I don’t care. I’m a rule breaker like that.
5. What’s the one food you don’t ever get tired of? (from That Army Wife Life)
Pasta! Pasta, pasta, PASTA (channeling The Brady Bunch there!)

Please don’t forget to add your blog link to Mr. Linky below by clicking on it. But also if you are not participating in MilSpouse Friday Fill-In this week, please do not put your link on there… I will remove it. It is unfair to others who do participate.

  1. This is my first week to participate in your meme and I love it! Quick bio – Army brat, Navy wife, mother of a teenage daughter, lover of all things English thanks to my Mum, living the Navy life for 16 years now and wouldn’t trade it for anything! Stationed in Florida, Illinois, Virginia and now Rhode Island – hubby is deployed right now but this is number six for us so it’s just a part of our life.

Good luck with #1, I’m working on the losing part but not the running (yet?).
#2 is spot on – we’ve had our ups and downs, highs and lows in the last 16 years but we went into this adventure together and we draw our strength from each other.

    Have a great weekend!

  2. Happy Friday!

I’ve heard of a few girlfriends that have gotten upset because of the bf not being able to drop whatever he is doing to come at their beck and call.

I would definitely tell them the what’s-what because they will be in for a rude awakening if they continue to think like that.

  3. I, too, LOVE pasta! I’m also trying to run 5k. Slowly but surely. It’s so hard to train when you have little kids and your husband’s never home!

  5. Hi! I’m back on the Milspouse Friday Fill-In bandwagon this week. I like it that you are using other bloggers questions from a few weeks ago. There are definitely some interesting ones. Have a great weekend! (c:
