MilSpouse Friday Fill-In(please feel free to use this!)

I love learning more about my fellow MilSpouse bloggers. So I created a weekly meme. Each week, I’ll post a list of questions on Thursday (so you can have your blog ready on Friday). Come back here on Friday (like today!) and enter your blog post into Mr. Linky below so others know who else participated and we can all visit other blogs. Please leave a comment too! And please feel free to use the button above!

Next week, there’ll be more questions again by other MilSpouses. This week, I’m too busy graduating from the Defense Information School to do that, so I’m making some quick questions. This week’s questions are:

1. What is the longest road trip you’ve ever taken?
That would have to be the PCS trip we took in February from Michigan to Western Washington. Of course, this was made longer since we had to go via St. Louis, Amarillo, Las Vegas, Boise and then over thanks to the snow and blizzard warnings that were all around us.

2. Do you collect anything? Tell us a bit about it.
I collect snow globes. Mostly ones from different states and places that I visit. My parents gave me a curio cabinet for my high school graduation present and it’s totally filled now!

3. What is your favorite part about being an adult?)
Hmm… I guess my favorite part is choosing to do what I want. But that also comes with being responsible for my choices, which isn’t always fun!

4. What song brings a tear to your eye?
I danced to “I Loved Her First” during my Father-Daughter dance at my wedding. My dad had died four years previously so I danced to that with the other men in my life… my brother, uncle and cousins. Also, most songs that have to do with losing someone and/or the military tend to get me. The ones that come to mind are “Arlington” and “American Soldier” both by Trace Adkins, “Eighth of November” by Big and Rich and “If You’re Reading This” by Tim McGraw.

5. Describe your first plane ride (how old you were, where you were heading, etc).
I was three or four years old and we flew to visit my grandparents in Florida. I don’t remember much about it, other than we missed our connecting flight and I remember my mom running holding my baby brother and holding my hand and trying to get me to run faster. I also remember my mom getting me to watch the planes out the window of the airport (no doubt to keep me from getting bored).

Please don’t forget to add your blog link to Mr. Linky below by clicking on it. But also if you are not participating in MilSpouse Friday Fill-In this week, please do not put your link on there… I will remove it. It is unfair to others who do participate.

  1. If you’re reading this always get’s me too! Oh, and that one he sings with Faith “I Need You”. We heard it on our road trip and tears started flowing and my poor husband was wondering what the heck was wrong with me!

  2. You’re memory of your first plane ride makes me wonder what my kids will remember about theirs, lol. Probably that they had a freak mom trying to get them through the airport, LOL.

  3. Thanks for tweeting me earlier, I almost forgot to post my MFF this week. Also, if songs about losing military bother you, I would also avoid a song called Sullivan by Caroline’s Spine.

  4. I’m the same way about the military songs, they just get me. I try so hard not to and the hunny just looks at me like “What is wrong with you?” When he realizes what song is playing, he just squeezes my hand and says he’ll always come back to me. Unfortunately, that usually makes me cry harder.

  5. I wanted to collect snowglobes at one point in my life but I never did it. I’ve always thought they were the coolest things ever.

  6. I had a lot of fun doing today’s post. Thanks for hosting this every week. I switched over to wordpress so this was my first post at the new site.

  7. Back on the bandwagon – great questions this week! 🙂 Our last PCS, we made it halfway through Montana before we hit snow…next time I think we will avoid the northern route and head south as well…

  8. I did it and whats the code for the button cause i just used photobucket…and it doesnt link to your website and i would love to do that!
This is my first friday doing this and i absolutley loved it. The roadtrip one brought back some wonderful summer memories! I can not wait for deployement to be over!

  9. “Arlington” is such a beautiful, haunting song. The first I’d heard it, I had chills go up my spine.

Father-daughter songs always break my heart. “I Loved Her First” has got to be one of my favorites. “You Can Let Get Now” by Crystal Shawanda is another one. =)

  10. I participated this week and loved the questions! 🙂 I totally agree with the songs that bring a tear to your eye.. Most of them I honestly cannot listen to (I used to be before Hubs deployed lol). The other day I ended up watching the official video to “When You’re Gone” by Avril Lavigne on YouTube for the first time and I ended up balling my eyes out (It has a good ending, though!) You should check it out if you have never seen it! 🙂

  11. First plane ride … rolling around in the back of a two-seater with my Dad at the stick. I have tiny little snippets of a memory, but mostly it involves being sick! 🙂 Also, I know it’s sappy and cliche, but “Butterfly Kisses” gets me every time. Thanks for doing a roundup, great idea. I feel like we need a massive skype meet and greet! This is the second best thing.

  12. This is the first time I’ve finally had time to do this, been wanting to for weeks! Took a bit of a blogging break, so this was a nice exercise in remembering how to post 😀 Had to reign myself in when it came to the bucket list, my grows by miles every day!
