The happiest moments of my life have been the few which I have passed at home in the bosom of my family. ~Thomas Jefferson
MilSpouses who are participating in Secret Santa… You should have your match by now and should be sending out your packages (if you haven’t already). You should also have emailed me back letting me know you received your match by now. If either one of these has not happened, please email me ASAP at wifeofasailor(at)gmail(dot)com. Hope you are all enjoying it!
I love learning more about my fellow MilSpouse bloggers. So I created a weekly meme. Each week, I’ll post a list of questions on Thursday (so you can have your blog ready on Friday). Come back here on Friday (like today!) and enter your blog post into Mr. Linky below so others know who else participated and we can all visit other blogs. Please leave a comment too! And please feel free to use the button above!
This week’s questions are:
1. If you were given $1,000 right now, how would you spend it?
Um, right now, it’d either be paying off some bills so we could possibly qualify for a larger mortgage or saving it for the stuff we’ll need when we get our house in the next two months!
2. If you had to choose a movie title (a real one that already exists) for your life story, what would it be?
Oh gosh… I think everyone is going to use this, but it has to be “It’s a Wonderful Life.” It works for the season and for my life. However, “It Happened One Night” would be perfect, too, especially considering how we met! Yeah, let’s use that one!
3. If you were a teacher, what subject would you like to teach?
English. Hands-down. However, I think I’d prefer to teach first grade as a whole.
4. Has being a MilSpouse changed how you view holidays or how your holidays are celebrated? If so, how? If not, what hasn’t changed?
It absolutely has changed. Holidays with family aren’t taken for granted now. Thanksgiving was my first holiday without any family (even my husband). This Christmas will be the second. I used to just KNOW that the holidays were time we’d get together and enjoy being a family. That’s not the case now. I’m going to savor those times we are together now.
5. What is your favorite Christmas (or whatever holiday you celebrate) memory?
Just Christmas as I was growing up in general. We’d open one present on Christmas Eve, then head to church for the candlelight service. Oh how I loved singing “Silent Night” while the church was dark save for the candles we all held.
Christmas morning, we’d wake mom and dad up early and open presents. Mom would make Monkey Bread and then we’d play with our new gifts. Just after noon, we’d bundle up and walk (or drive depending on how hard it was snowing and blowing) across the street to my aunt and uncle’s house. We’d open presents over there and enjoy spending time with our cousins. Then we’d have a huge lunch/dinner of smoked ham and turkey and then play cards and games all afternoon and leave in the early evening.
Please don’t forget to add your blog link to Mr. Linky below by clicking on it. But also if you are not participating in MilSpouse Friday Fill-In this week, please do not put your link on there… I will remove it. It is unfair to others who do participate.
