My Thoughts

Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.
~Winston Churchill

I posted this as a response on another blog to the question, “What are you feeling?” in response to the death of Osama Bin Laden.  Here is my short response. It continues to sum up my feelings today.

What I’m feeling…

Hope and trepidation.

Hope that this will unite our country as bin Laden’s heinous actions did 10 years ago. Hope that this will continue to move us in the right direction in our fight against Al-Qaeda.

Trepidation because I fear the potential backlash but I also fear that America will decide our work there is done… when it is clearly not. Trepidation because there are more Al -Qaeda members out there who wish to do our country harm and we have a lot more work to do. We will continue to need the support of the American public.

  1. Agreed! Very well said. I’ve kept from posting anything personally, because I don’t know how to phrase it like you just did!

  2. On my facebook feed many did not understand why military spouses wouldn’t rejoice at this news. We know our loved ones too often pay the price. Hope and trepidation. Exactly.

  3. I would like to to give my heart felt thanks to our milatary forces for there very brave actions on 5/01 2011 you should be very proud. When I met a Seal member I am goiong to buy him a drink. Seals are the Best.

  4. I feel the same way too, but I also feel happy and relieved that our forces got the mastermind behind 9/11. I was posting a blog post, but I kept deleting it because I have no idea how to write how I am feeling. I know there may be backlash. It is inevitable. The war on terror does not just stop here because of Osama’s death. It continues on. But, I am embracing the news with open arms. This is GREAT news for everyone. Justice has been served for all.
